Landstar employees are committed to giving back to the community during the holidays and throughout the year.

Landstar’s Jacksonville-based employees once again partnered with the Child Guidance Center (CGC) in Jacksonville, Florida. CGC is a private, not-for-profit organization serving the needs of children, adolescents and their families in northern Florida since 1951. Since 1990, Landstar employees have donated gifts each holiday season to CGC through the center’s Angel Tree program.

This year, Landstar employees supported hundreds of the center’s children in need. Employees purchased items from the wish lists of 150 children while employees who chose to make a cash donation helped to buy gift cards and extra gifts to support another 75 children. According to the center, this provides gifts for it to have on-hand as they identify additional children in need.

Many of the children’s wish lists include requests for bicycles, so Landstar began hosting a separate drive to raise money for bikes 15 years ago. This year, Landstar employees raised money to purchase 101 new bikes and an additional five bikes were donated.

A team of volunteers helped with receiving and sorting gifts, shopping and wrapping gifts, loading and unloading the truck, and organizing at the center. The bikes were transported to the center by Landstar BCO Tony Davis.

Landstar’s Rockford-based employees are in their 29th year of partnering with the Winnebago/Boone Foster Care Alliance, which is a collaboration of child welfare agencies in Winnebago and Boone counties in Illinois. The agencies involved in the alliance provide services to children of need in the community. Landstar employees donated 35 gift cards for Walmart, Target, Visa and Amazon so the children can purchase gifts and other items they might need.
