Moving this 26-foot tall, 34,000-pound statue of Marilyn Monroe, called for just one owner-operator with many years of experience – Landstar Business Capacity Owner (BCO) Ronald Shaw, who specializes in moving over-dimensional freight with his double-drop trailer.

During the last 21 years while leased to Landstar, Shaw has moved countless oversized loads. In fact, this haul marked the sixth time the BCO has transported the larger-than-life Marilyn Monroe statue for independent Landstar agency WW Transport Inc.

For this trip, the sculpture needed a short haul of just 100 miles, from Mercerville, New Jersey, to Stamford, Connecticut. When Shaw arrived, “Marilyn” was lifted off his trailer by crane and placed on display downtown.

The statue, created by artist Seward Johnson, was the centerpiece of Stamford’s 2018 summer art series.
