Landstar and independent agency Crosson Agency, LLC (GAD) donated the time and all associated fees to move an icon of the Vietnam War for the Gadsden-Etowah Patriots Association.
Landstar Business Capacity Owner (BCO) Wayne Bennett hauled the 1962 Huey B model helicopter from Warsaw, New York, to the Northeast Alabama Regional Airport.
Arriving safely at the airport on a rainy July day, Bennett was greeted by the Patriots Association, leaders from the Gadsden, Alabama community, members of the media and the team at the Crosson Agency.
“With Landstar’s support, this move happened at no cost to the Gadsden-Etowah Patriots. The historic helicopter and its safe delivery was important to the community,” said Hunter Morgan, operations manager at the independent agency.
The U.S. military used the Huey helicopter during the Vietnam War for troop transport, air and ground assault and medical transport. The association plans to display the historical gem at the Etowah County Veterans Memorial Park in Noccalula Falls.
