Landstar System, Inc. was recognized on the Inbound Logistics 75 Green Supply Chain Partners list for 2024.

According to Inbound Logistics, “From 3PLs to air cargo carriers, and from ports to truckers, Inbound Logistics recognizes 75 supply chain visionaries who have come full circle by demonstrating their commitment to sustainability every day in every way.”

Some of Landstar’s efforts that led to this selection include:

Aerodynamic Devices

As of 2023, 99.96% of Landstar’s van trailers are equipped with aerodynamic devices. Each of the aerodynamic features used on its van trailers is listed on the SmartWay Verified List of Aerodynamic Devices as providing EPA-verified fuel savings of 5% or more when used in conjunction with low-rolling resistance tires. 

Low-Rolling Resistance Tires

100% of Landstar's new trailer purchases are equipped with low-rolling resistance (LRR) tires. Landstar is also committed to replacing any existing tires with LRR tires, depending on availability at the replacement location.

Remote Tracking Devices

In recent years, Landstar has upgraded thousands of single-use battery-powered trailer tracking units to rechargeable battery-powered and/or solar-powered units. By the end of 2023, 13,034, or over 96%, of its van trailers were equipped with these advanced tracking devices.

Landstar Savings Programs

Landstar encourages the use of the LandstarOne® mobile app, which includes Load Alerts® and Landstar Maximizer® technologies, to minimize empty miles and reduce idling time. Furthermore, Landstar independent owner-operators are motivated to adopt technologies and purchase products that enhance fuel efficiency. For instance, the Landstar Contractors’ Advantage Purchasing Program (LCAPP) offers discounts on items such as low-rolling resistance tires and auxiliary power units.
