Landstar agents and carriers that conduct cross-border freight transportation along the U.S.-Mexico border congregated in Laredo, Texas, for Landstar’s 8th annual Mexico Cross-Border Agent & Carrier Summit held Oct. 10 through Oct. 12. Over the three days, attendees listened to guest speakers and panels to learn more about the cross-border economy and what the future might hold for those
facilitating cross-border transportation logistics services.
Some topics included:
- Nearshoring
- Investment in the Laredo-Colombia Solidarity International Bridge
- Economic development in Laredo
- Updates to the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA)
“This event helps to educate Landstar agents and field personnel about what’s going on in the Mexico marketplace,” says Steve Wisnieski, Landstar vice president of Mexico cross-border services. The 175 agents and carriers who attended also had the chance to network throughout the summit.
“The event is not just educational, it’s also about developing relationships between those involved in moving the freight and those who handle the arrangements,” Wisnieski explains. “Landstar agents get to meet and talk with representatives from carriers based in Mexico.”
