Download the Landstar Connect App Today!

Download Landstar Connect today to experience the app’s new features – less work for app users and more visibility for customers. With the latest enhancements to the shipment tracking app, BCOs and other approved carriers using Landstar Connect no longer have to make check calls. Instead, the app automatically updates a BCO’s arrivals and departures via smart phone, so there’s no lag time for agents and their customers who need to know exactly where their freight is and when it’s been received.

“The auto arrive and departure enhancements save us from having to make multiple calls to get current locations, loaded times and empty times,” says Landstar DUV Agency’s Misty Plata.

Besides the time-saving benefits to agents and capacity providers, the more extensive GPS load-tracking capabilities also help meet customer demand for timely, accurate status updates about their shipments.

“Landstar Connect is a great way for us to quickly provide the customer with detailed, real-time status updates,” said CAN Agency’s Steve Linsalata.

Other recent app enhancements include:

  • GeoFence Lock and Unlock: An owner-operator can activate the GeoFence around his or her trailer while under a load using the app – an alert is sent if the fence is broken.
  • Store and Forward: When the device is in a poor service area, Landstar Connect stores the GPS location and forwards it to the customer when service is regained.
  • Document Scanning Services: Capacity providers can upload paperwork to Landstar using the app.

Download Landstar Connect today from either the Google Play or Apple App Stores. Or, contact the Account Management department about Landstar Connect by emailing connect@landstar.com or calling 866-440-9161.

ANNOUNCING LANDSTAR’S NEWEST MILLION MILE SAFE DRIVERS, ROADSTARS AND THE 1st TRUCK WINNER OF 2016

LT5_8353_MM

Landstar System, Inc., a worldwide, asset-light provider of integrated transportation management solutions delivering safe, specialized transportation services, paid tribute to the best and safest Landstar owner-operators during the 5th Annual Landstar BCO All-Star Celebration event held in their honor earlier this month.

BCO is Landstar’s term for the independent owner-operators who provide the company with transportation capacity under exclusive lease arrangements. The event featured an awards program during which Landstar inducted 10 Business Capacity Owners (BCOs) as Landstar Roadstars. Landstar was also proud to honor 122 BCOs as new Million Mile Safe Drivers for driving one million consecutive miles without a preventable accident and eight BCOs as new Two Million Mile Safe Drivers for driving two million consecutive miles without a preventable accident and one BCO as a Three Million Mile Safe Driver, for driving three million miles without a preventable accident.

To top off the celebration, Landstar presented its first Landstar Truck Giveaway of 2016. The truck, a 2017 Peterbilt 579, was exclusively reserved for a Landstar Roadstar or Million Miler.

The select group of 2015 inductees were recognized during a three-day event held in Orlando, Florida, from July 1st through July 3rd for their outstanding safety records and professionalism behind the wheel.

Collectively, the 122 active BCOs who make up the Million Miler Class of 2015 have safely driven more than 122 million miles – which is close to the distance from the earth’s surface to the sun. On average it takes a truck operator 10 years to travel a million miles. The distance would take a typical driver about 67 years to complete.

“Landstar is proud to showcase the class of Landstar Million Mile Safe Drivers as the industry’s best. Their talent, hard work and dedication to safety is truly worthy of a celebration. These men and women make the roads safer for all of us; we are proud to honor them,” said Landstar President and CEO Jim Gattoni.

Of the 940 active Landstar Million Mile Safe Drivers, 10 earned the distinction of Roadstar during the celebration. Landstar Roadstars are chosen for their consistently high levels of safety, productivity and excellence in customer service.  Each was previously recognized as a Landstar Million Mile Safe Driver. The addition of the new Roadstars raises the total number of active Landstar Roadstars to 174. BCOs have received the Roadstar honor since Landstar began presenting the award in 1990.

“Roadstars’ outstanding productivity and safety records raise the bar for the entire trucking industry. The 2015 class of Roadstars have earned the right to be called Landstar’s elite,” said Gattoni.

Landstar President and CEO Jim Gattoni also presented Landstar BCO Fred Durbin with the BCO Lifetime Achievement Award. Durbin leased on to Landstar in 1978. In 1998 Durbin was named a Two Million Mile Safe Driver and in 2008 he was named a Three Million Mile Safe Driver.  LT5_8636_FredDDurbin also took home a brand new truck in 2008 after winning the Landstar Truck Giveaway and still drives the 2008 royal blue Freightliner Coronado today. Over the years, Durbin has received 37 annual safe driving awards with Landstar. In 2010, Durbin received the National Safety Council’s Safe Driver of the Year Award, which recognizes outstanding drivers throughout the country.

“Fred is an ambassador of safety. The BCO Lifetime Achievement Award is the perfect way to honor his years of service and safe driving. This award is a testament to the values that Fred lives and works by,” said Gattoni.

The awards ceremony also showcased Landstar’s All-Star Truck Giveaway. Each new Landstar Million Miler and each Landstar Roadstar automatically received one entry to win the truck. Those who attended the Landstar BCO All-Star Celebration received an additional entry as well.IMG_7879 That evening Million Mile Safe Driver Frankie Hill of Galax, Virginia, was the lucky winner to receive the truck keys and drive off with a brand new truck.
